Stop Committing Plaintext Secrets. Inject Directly In-Memory.
Centralize, version, and share environment variables across all your teams and environments. Eliminate leaky .env files with instant CLI process injection, 1-click rollback, and zero-knowledge ephemeral links.
Everything Modern Engineering Teams Need
Built specifically for developers who care about security without sacrificing developer velocity or pipeline simplicity.
Authenticated AES-256 GCM Encryption
All secrets, values, and environment variables are encrypted at rest with industry-standard AES-256 GCM. Each record gets a unique cryptographically secure initialization vector (IV) and authentication tag.
- Cryptographic integrity verification
- Per-record unique random IVs
- Encrypted in-transit & at rest
Secret History & 1-Click Rollback
Every modification, update, and deletion is recorded as an immutable version. Review unified diffs across timestamps and restore previous secret states instantly if a deployment goes bad.
- Visual side-by-side diff viewer
- Full attribution & modification reason
- Zero-downtime instant restoration
Zero-Knowledge Ephemeral Sharing
Share sensitive credentials or SSH keys with clients and external teammates. Keys reside solely in the URL hash fragment (#key)—the DevVault server never sees or stores the decryption key.
- Burn-on-first-read option
- Custom TTL expiration (10m to 7 days)
- Passphrase protection with PBKDF2
Dynamic Variable Interpolation
Eliminate duplicate hostnames and ports. Compose composite strings like DATABASE_URL="${DB_USER}:${DB_PASS}@${DB_HOST}:${DB_PORT}/${DB_NAME}" with automatic cycle detection.
- Recursive cross-variable expansion
- Cycle detection with helpful error alerts
- Cross-environment consistency
In-Memory Process Injection
Never leave unencrypted .env files on developer laptops or CI servers. The DevVault CLI pulls credentials and injects them straight into your application process in memory.
- Zero plaintext files saved to disk
- Scoped API tokens with role restrictions
- Cross-platform (macOS, Linux, Windows)
Security & Secret Leak Scanner
Continuous Shannon entropy evaluation flags accidental leaks of raw AWS keys, high-entropy tokens, JWTs, and weak placeholder passwords before they hit staging or production.
- Shannon entropy calculation score
- Weak password & placeholder warnings
- Upcoming secret expiration alerts

Security by Design: Zero-Knowledge Architecture
DevVault protects your secrets with defense-in-depth principles. Even in the unlikely event of database access, secrets remain unreadable ciphertext.
Envelope Encryption
Each environment secret has its value encrypted using AES-256-GCM. A randomized 12-byte initialization vector (IV) and 16-byte authentication tag are generated on every save.
Ephemeral URL Hash Fragments
When generating self-destructing links, the encryption key is appended to the URL as a hash fragment (#key). Web browsers never send hash fragments in HTTP requests.
In-Memory CLI Injection
The devvault run command resolves variables directly in Node/OS process memory, passing them down as environment parameters to child processes without writing to disk.
Why Developers Choose DevVault Over .env Files
Stop playing Slack ping-pong with unencrypted API keys. See how DevVault modernizes configuration management across your engineering organization.
